    What’s going on with Rishiray

What do you do to motivate yourself to update a travel blog when you’re not really travelling a lot? Well that’s easy … post about all the other stuff that’s going on … For the past 12 months, I’ve done less travelling than I’ve done in the last 13 years. Comparatively, it’s still more than the average person but this …

48 hours in Charlottetown : Foodie Weekend

If you’re a consultant like me, time is typically precious and you’re doing weekend trips. This means that you’re getting in on a Friday morning/early afternoon and leaving on the latest Sunday night flight. While Prince Edward Island is famous for Anne of Green Gables, there is definitely enough to make a couple weekends here. It’s easily one of the …

Warning : Amato Pizza Refuses Groupons

I’m so sick of Amato Pizza here at 429A Yonge St. I really like their pizza but I hate the customer service and the old man here. Like hate with a passion. I’m also really sick of GroupOn. Here’s the story: The first time I came here to use the GroupOn, they refused to look at the coupon code or …

Monday Night Raw in Montreal 2015 … It’s front seats or nothing

I have a confession … When you come from a family of 4 sons, you’re bound to watch some type of sporting event or have an affinity for a sport. I happened to love cricket and rugby and be a casual football fan. After living in Canada for the last 15+ years, I’ve become an American Football fan because of …

Where NOT to eat in Antigua Guatemala : Sunset Terrace Review | La Terraza Sunset Review

Eating out in Antigua Guatemala tends to be an adventure, usually an exploratory one. Typically you can find semi decent to excellent food with good customer service at a decent to very good price point. Sunset Terrace / La Terraza Sunset isn’t one of those places. In Guatemala, there tends to be a disconnect between actual circumstances and business logic …

What to do in Antigua Guatemala : Go to the Mercado to make lunch

When you’re in one place for a couple weeks, you eventually develop a routine. With Mitchell around, the idea of wild adventure travelling was pretty much thrown out of the equation. However, I do love cooking when I have the chance to do so. Walking from the house to the Mercado here in Antigua takes about 5 minutes. At first, …

Where to eat in Antigua Guatemala : El Viejo Cafe review

After a week in Antigua Guatemala, everyone has recommendations for great breakfast places. I’ve always found that the best recommendations will come from other service providers or owners in the food business. After having a couple drinks at Kafka, I was chatting with Kevin (one of the owners) and he recommended El Viejo Cafe as one of his “go-to” places …

Where to eat in Antigua Guatemala : Cactus Tacos review

In Antigua Guatemala, you can find a lot of patios but not a lot of sidewalk bars. You know why? There aren’t many sidewalks because the streets are cobblestoned and there isn’t much walkway.  However on our way to 7A Norte a couple nights ago, we passed by Cactus Tacos and I made a note about trying them, since I’m …

Where to eat in Antigua Guatemala : Jardin Bavaria review

It was back to Jardin Bavaria today for lunch after breakfast at Fernando’s. I’ve always liked coming here at least once during an Antigua trip. My original post : http://www.rishiray.com/another-installment-of-eating-in-jardin-bavaria-antigua/ Today, however wasn’t the greatest meal I had there because of a misalignment of expectations. Customer have expectations and when you see something on the menu that you know … …

Where to eat in Antigua Guatemala : Pizza in the ruins : 7A Norte Pizzeria review

The search for a great patio in Antigua Guatemala doesn’t tend to be very hard work. However, just like finding a great bowl of fragrant Pho, a well balanced plate of Pad Thai or a flavorful well done steak … finding a great patio can be a lot of trial and error before you find greatness. At 7A Norte Pizzeria, …
