How much is #RDMission100-7 costing me?

My last huge mission was getting to Antarctica. It wasn’t cheap … here’s a reminder of the cost … link

This trip is nowhere near the same … it’s even more. Like crazy more … Going around New Zealand and getting to Australia is on my bucket list since I’m a huge Lord of the Rings fan and I wanted to complete my continent count.

As we’re going through on the trip, it’s broken down into six distinct phases :

Total running cost to date : $26,000 and counting!!!

1. Prince Edward Island to Disneyland (Total Cost = $11,428.98)

Flights for the entire trip were one giant cost regardless of where we stopped. This was booked as a fairly routine open jawed ticket online through CheapoAir.

  • Flight Cost :
  • Uber (from LAX to Great Wolf Lodge + tips for all the people who helped us) : $140.00
  • Car Rental : Avis (5 day rental) : $200.00
  • Children materials, prep costs, food, treats and miscellaneous crap  : $2000.00 (Yeah seriously … you don’t know you’re poor until you have children)
  • Disneyland Tickets : $1300.00
  • Accommodation : Great Wolf Lodge $1000.00
  • Goofy’s Kitchen for Baba’s Birthday : $300.00

2. Disneyland to Auckland (Total Cost = $660.00)

Our 48 hour layover in Auckland is meant to be a refresher with some sightseeing. The car rental was really an expensive luggage carrier. This will be an ongoing theme and I dare anyone to oppose this costing.

  • Bassinet surcharge on Air New Zealand : $100.00
  • Car Rental : Avis (2 day rental) : $210.00
  • Children materials, prep costs, food, treats and miscellaneous crap  : $250.00
  • Accommodation : Four Points Auckland (I used Bonvoy Points) : $100.00

3. Cruising from Auckland, New Zealand to Sydney, Australia (Celebrity Solstice : Dec 2 — Dec 14, 2019 | 12 night New Zealand cruise) (Total Cost : $8450.00)

  • Administrative costs : NZeTAs : $150
  • Shopping and excursion costs : $400
  • Power adapter for our cruise : $100
  • Cruise Cost

4. Cruising from Sydney, Australia (Celebrity Solstice : Dec 14 — Dec 23, 2019 | 9 night south pacific cruise) : (Total Cost : $5600)

  • Administrative costs : NZeTAs : $80
  • Cruise Cost

  • Car Rental : Avis (2 day rental) : $210.00
  • Children materials, prep costs, food, treats and miscellaneous crap  : $250.00
  • Accommodation : Four Points Auckland (I used Bonvoy Points) : $100.00

All figures are in Canadian Dollars … so stand back and be blown away
