Monday Morning Consultant – Jakarta Edition – Le Meridien Jakarta Review

With one full day here in Jakarta, I ended up booking a “Cash and Points” stay at Le Meridien Jakarta – which amounted to 30$ and 2800 pts a night – not a bad deal.

  • Plaudit #1 … Sheraton Towers, Singapore
  • Plaudit #2
The hotel isn’t the greatest Le Meridien, I’ve ever seen, but the security is expectedly tight for Jakarta. There are a couple onsite restaurants and all are predictably overpriced … having tried the Lebanese restaurant onsite : Al Nafoura. As for the room – this was not an initial success as D* got relegated to some smoking suite on the 10th floor when she first checked in. The staff at the hotel were not that helpful, and didn’t even attempt to offer a gold status upgrade – this is one of my pet peeves with the SPG program – they do not reward Gold members.Once I checked in though, on the same EXACT reservation and had a curt word on check in … there were the requisite apologies and an immediate upgrade the Diplomatic Suite. It is very spacious, though a bit dated – just like the hotel itself. There is a reason that this is a Category 2 hotel … even though a good Cat 2.

The Diplomatic Suite comprised the following

  • Two bathrooms
  • One Kitchenette
  • Living Room
  • Dining Room
  • 1 Master Bedroom

Kitchenette

Master Bedroom

As for the requisite Executive Club access … the LM Jakarta has a full service lounge with hot entrees and drinks in the evening.

So in the end, yet another success for the SPG Platinum and completely worth the $30, we spent … but yet another failure for SPG Gold.
